As Education Undersecretary Tonisito Umali said, parents in this school year must need to prepare also as they take on a bigger role now that most students will learn in the comfort of their home.

Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said in a virtual press briefing,
[When parents are invited, they come and they take part in our webinars where they're taught ways in giving appropriate guidance to their children while they learn at home.]

According to San Antonio, for places where small/limited gathering is allowed, parents are welcome to meet with their childs teachers and school heads for training.
he said noting that health protocols must be followed during gatherings.

[This can be done not only in schools but also in other areas in the barangay where teachers and school heads can talk to parents without internet access,]

There are other ways to reach the student's parents without jeopardizing the health of both educators and parents. Antonio said that educators can also orient through text messaging or phone calls.

In earlier reports, the department said that it would ask the help of retired teachers, education graduates and other volunteers to aid students studying at home.

Public schools are set to start the school year 2020-2021 on October 5.
